Samsung confirms launch of tri-fold phone at Galaxy unpacked
At its recent Unpacked event, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S25 series smartphones, including the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Along with these devices, the company teased its upcoming projects, introducing the sleek Galaxy S25 Edge and confirming the development of a tri-fold phone.
Although no specific release date was provided, it was suggested that the tri-fold device could be launched following the new Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip foldable, set for release this July.
This announcement places Samsung in direct competition with Huawei, which has already launched tri-fold devices in its Mate X series. Samsung’s tri-fold phone is speculated to feature a G-Type inward fold, providing better protection for the screen.
When unfolded, the device is expected to offer a tablet-like 9.9 to 10-inch display. Samsung is rumored to limit the production of its first tri-fold model to just 200,000 units as part of a market test.
Additionally, Samsung shared exciting news about its collaboration with Google on augmented reality (AR) glasses.
Though specifics of the partnership were not disclosed, this collaboration will combine Google’s software expertise with Samsung’s hardware innovation, marking a step toward Samsung’s entry into the AR space.
