WhatsApp to introduce close friends status and new voicemail feature

WhatsApp to allow users to connect Facebook profiles
WhatsApp, the free messaging and video calling app, keeps adding new features for its users. Now it is working on a new option that will let people add their Facebook profile links directly to their WhatsApp profiles.
This feature is still under development and was recently noticed in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.26.12 on the Google Play Store.
With the update, users will be able to link their Facebook accounts, and once connected, a small Facebook icon will appear next to the profile link on their WhatsApp profile. This will allow contacts to quickly visit someone’s Facebook account while also making the profile look more credible.
Similar to how Instagram can be linked, adding Facebook will be optional. Those who do not want to display their Facebook profile can simply choose not to use the feature. For those who do, there will also be an option to verify the account through the Accounts Center. Verified accounts will show an official Facebook icon, while unverified ones will only display a simple link with the full URL.
Verification is not required. Even if users don’t verify, they can still show their Facebook link, and their WhatsApp account does not need to be connected to the Accounts Center for this option. This means people have full control over how their profiles appear.
This step shows WhatsApp’s wider plan to add more social media connections in the future. By allowing links to platforms like Facebook and Instagram, WhatsApp wants to make profiles more open, reliable, and authentic, and it could later allow links to other platforms as well, turning WhatsApp into a hub for verified online identity.
