Girlfriend who lived with father of missing seven-year-old Harmony Montgomery is dead
Harmony Montgomery’s father’s girlfriend was discovered dead after investigators discovered she was living in a car with him prior to his arrest.
Kelsey Small, who was never charged in connection with Harmony’s disappearance, died on March 13 in Manchester, New Hampshire, according to police.
At the time of her death, Small was Adam Montgomery’s girlfriend.
According to an affidavit, the pair were discovered living in a car on December 31, 2021, when he was arrested in connection with his seven-year-old daughter’s disappearance.
Small’s death is under investigation, but Manchester Police say it is not suspicious, according to NBC Boston.
Adam, 31, was arrested on January 4 and charged with felony second-degree assault, interfering with custody, and child endangerment in connection with his alleged conduct against Harmony in 2019.
Kayla, Harmony’s stepmother, was charged with welfare fraud on suspicion of obtaining $1,500 in food stamps for the child from December 2019 to June 2021 while the girl was not living with her and Adam.
They have both pleaded not guilty and are currently incarcerated.
Prosecutors have released new information in the Harmony case since their arrest.
Investigators believe Harmony vanished between November 28 and December 10, 2019, according to New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella. She was not reported missing until late 2021.
According to the DA, Adam and Kayla were living at 77 Gilford Street with Harmony and two common children when they were evicted on November 27, 2019.
Many people saw Harmony with Adam and Kayla in the days that followed, but between December 6 and 10, they only had their two common children with them, not Harmony.
“Witnesses have reported that during that time, Adam, Kayla, and the children were homeless and living out of cars, possibly in Manchester’s North End,” the attorney general’s office said in a statement.

Investigators released stock photos of the vehicles, but said the vehicles’ actual condition in 2019 was worse than in the photos, and the Sebring’s rear licence plate was crooked.
Crystal Sorey, Harmony’s birth mother, told police she hadn’t seen her daughter since a Facetime call around Easter 2019.

ADAM’S ALLEGED ABUSE
Michael, Adam’s brother, told police that the 31-year-old was physically abusive to Harmony and had given her a black eye.
A detective then questioned Adam’s uncle Kevin about Harmony’s eye injury.
According to court documents, Kevin claimed that Adam told him in July 2019 that he “bashed her [Harmony] around the house.”
Adam allegedly became enraged with Harmony, who was five years old at the time, because she was supposed to be watching her infant brother, but he began crying, which enraged the father.
According to the uncle, Adam spanked his daughter, made her stand in the corner for hours, and forced her to scrub a toilet with her toothbrush.
