Croatia could turn into an “energy center in the northern Adriatic” as Europe tries to wean itself off Russian energy, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said during a visit to Cyprus on Wednesday.

Croatia’s liquid petroleum gas (LNG) terminal on the northern Adriatic island of Krk began working in January 2021. Its unique limit was 2.5 billion cubic meters each year, which has this year been raised to 2.9 bcm, as indicated by Global Energy Monitor.

“Believed is being given right now to expanding its (Lng’s) ability and for Croatia as well as for the necessities of nations in Central Europe. Croatia can turn into an energy center in the north Adriatic for gas and oil… Europe needs to track down a new, long-haul reasonable option in contrast to Russia’s energy items at a reasonable value,” Plenković said in Cyprus, as per N1 Croatia.
