An 11-foot alligator in South Carolina pulled a guy into a pond, where he drowned
An 11-foot alligator allegedly attacked and pulled a man from South Carolina into a retention pond, where he died on Friday, according to officials.
The Horry County Police Department reported that they responded to a water rescue call Friday about 11:45 a.m. close to the Myrtle Beach Golf & Yacht Club in a Facebook post.
Along with them, personnel from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources’ Law Enforcement Division and Wildlife Section responded to offer assistance.
When they arrived, it was discovered that the unnamed man had been pushed into the retention pond by an alligator that had grabbed him there.
After the man’s body was eventually found in the pond, authorities decided that the alligator ought to be put to death right there.
There are millions of alligators in the United States, from Texas to the Carolinas, according to FOX News contributor Phil Keating.
According to Keating, Florida contains an estimated 1.3 million alligators, with an average of seven unprovoked assaults per year resulting in medical attention.
An estimated 2 million alligators live in Louisiana.
Alligators are known to live in regions where people live or travel, so they should exercise caution when strolling and watch out for their dogs and young children.
