Pool float man swims through flooding Las Vegas roadways

One of the videos that has gone viral this week showed a man floating down the waterlogged streets of Las Vegas on what appeared to be a pool float.

Twitter user posted the video online on August 13, 2022. It showed people cheering at the man and shouting “It’s Vega, baby!” while he gave them a thumbs up.

That water is likely mixed with sewer water, probably not advisable to swim in it.

So far, more than 1.3 million people have watched the 34-second video. Even though over 10,000 people liked the video on Twitter, many netizens pointed out that it can be bad for your health to play in streets that are flooded and full of sewage.

A Twitter user who agreed with this point of view wrote, “A couple of things: 1: That’s so funny. 2: Flood water is TOXIC water. I can’t swim in it. That isn’t a river. That water has all the bacteria that are lying around. It’s in the water that comes up from the storm drain. Often, that water has sewage in it. Don’t go near flood water.” Someone else said, “Dude, live your best life. Then go get a shot for tetanus! Vegas had a lot of flooding.”

In a statement, the National Weather Service in the United States said that heavy rain is likely to fall around Las Vegas until Monday. The weather forecasting service also said that Las Vegas has had the most rain this year than it has since 2012.
