Want foolish childcare staff in Halloween masks imprisoned
A mother whose two-year-old son was horrified by a nursery worker dressed in a Halloween mask has asked for staff members to be imprisoned.
Earlier this month, a video emerged from the Lil’ Blessings Child Care & Learning Center in Mississippi, US, showing a harsh member of staff donning a ghost mask and yelling at children, “you must be good.”
The tiny children screamed in terror. Some people were in tears.
Sierra McCandless, Oci-Anna Kilburn, Jennifer Newman, and Shyenne Shelton, four nursery workers, were charged with felony child abuse after the videos went public and drew international condemnation.
Traci Hutson, a fifth woman, is charged with failing to report abuse and simple assault on a kid, both misdemeanours.
All of the employees implicated were sacked.
Katelyn Johnson, whose son was one of the traumatised youngsters, said he is struggling to sleep at night and has regressed in his potty training as a result of the event.
She wants the nursery employees imprisoned.
She stated to the sources, “I do feel a felony is appropropriate. They were traumatising those children and some of those children are old enough to communicate and talk through those feelings and some of them aren’t.”
“And there is no telling with those children being so young when we will see that trauma surface, because my son is two-years-old and he cannot communicate what is going on through his head.”
Katelyn stated that her son suffers from a, “very strong reaction” to the specific mask the staff member was wearing because “they used it so often.”
The mask is a duplicate of Ghostface, the villain from the 1990s horror film Scream.
“I would like to see them serve some jail time,” she said, before suggesting “six months to a year” would be appropriate.
The mother also stated that she is not considering launching a lawsuit, while other parents prefer to wait and see what happens in the criminal case before taking legal action.
