X-ray captures cat in JFK passenger’s luggage
The X-ray of a passenger’s bag at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport revealed an unexpected find: a cat that had sneaked onto the flight without the passenger’s knowledge.
According to the Transportation Security Administration, agents monitoring the X-rays on baggage at the airport observed what seemed like the silhouette of an animal.
According to TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein, who spoke to the media on behalf of the agency, “The bag was opened by a TSA officer, who was shocked to see a live orange cat inside.”
We’re letting the cat out of the bag on a hiss-toric find. This CATch had our baggage screening officers @JFKairport saying, “Come on meow”! Feline like you have travel questions reach out to our furiends @AskTSA. They’re available every day, from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. (ET). pic.twitter.com/LpIkLbAgzC

Delta Airlines was able to track down the owner of the suitcase, who at the time of the discovery was getting ready to board a flight to Orlando, Florida. TSA employees informed Delta Airlines about the discovery.
According to the owner of the bag, the cat belongs to a different member of the owner’s family. The man was able to rebook another trip for the following day in order to take the cat back with him to their house.
