Iranian man becomes world’s shortest man
A 20-year-old from Iran measures 65.24 cm (2 feet 1.6 inches), beating the previous record by almost 7 cm. Afshin Esmaeil Ghaderzadeh was born in 2002 in Bukan County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran.
Ghaderzadeh flew to Dubai with his parents to verify the record. Guinness World Records took three measurements over 24 hours to determine his height. Guinness World Records posted a Ghaderzadeh video Thursday.
Ghaderzadeh visited Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. His local school wouldn’t teach him, so he was homeschooled. In preparation for setting a new world record, he visited a barber and tailor in Dubai. His three-piece suit is for a 2-year-old and needed adjusting.

Ghaderzadeh speaks Kurdish and Farsi-Persian. Born at 700 g (1.5 lb), he’s now almost 6.5 kg (14.3 lb).
Guinness World Records says the man is adept at using a smartphone despite finding it cumbersome. “Phones in general are heavy to use for a long time, yet I still manage,” he said. His family struggles to pay for his living expenses, medication, and treatment despite working hard.
He spends his days watching cartoons and, recently, scrolling social media. Guinness World Records said a friend helps him communicate with Instagram followers @mohamadghaderzadeh official.
