Little girl gets first-ever unicorn license; now she must find one
Little girl gets first-ever unicorn licence. A unicorn is a legendary animal that is often depicted as a horse with a single straight horn protruding from its brow.
Because it is not real, it cannot be owned (the ones you have seen in films are just the good work of GFX artists and prosthetic experts).
Even if their presence has always remained a work of fiction, authorities in the US state of California have given a small girl’s fantasy of finding one in real life some encouragement.
Madeline is the first person to be granted the first licence to own a unicorn.
According to the report, she was granted an ‘official licence’ after writing to the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control last month, requesting permission to call a unicorn her own.
“Dear LA County, I would like your approval if I can have a unicorn in my backyard if I can find one,” she said in her handwritten letter.
The agency, moved by the sweet plea, posted a snapshot of the letter on their official Facebook page. The article also included a photo of Madeline’s licence, which was granted by the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care.
Marcia Meyeda, director of the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control, signed the agreement.
According to the post: “This brought us so much JOY so we thought we should share with everyone. Madeline wrote us a letter requesting permission to have a unicorn in her backyard if she could find one. It is always rewarding to hear from young people who thoughtfully consider the requirements of providing a loving home to animals.”
It continues: “We commend Madeline’s sense of responsible pet ownership to seek permission in advance to keep a unicorn in Los Angeles County. As a result, we issued her a pre-approved unicorn license. Also, in the meantime, because they are indeed very rare to find, we will be providing her with the unicorn pictured below as she continues her search.”
“Thank you Madeline for reaching out to our department. Why, yes – we DO license unicorns!”
Madeline’s unicorn licence came with some restrictions. They were like this – the unicorn must be exposed to sunlight, moonbeams, and rainbows, and its horn must be polished with a soft cloth at least once a month.
Madeline was also given a cuddly unicorn toy and a heart-shaped, rose-coloured metal tag in addition to the licence.
