A young 17-year-old lad bravely put his own life in danger to save an elderly man and his dog from an icy lake. An 83-year-old man’s Jeep was involved in the incident in Iowa, US, when it slid into the icy water. Online praise is pouring in for Joe Salmon after he jumped in to save Thomas Lee and his dog.
The incident was captured on video, which Drone Photographs by Tom Gustafson posted on Facebook. The entire rescue effort was captured in the longer than a two-minute clip. Joe could be seen attempting to open the jeep’s back on the drone footage. He was able to free the dog by doing this. Along with the Dickinson County police, a couple of other men were there to assist in rescuing the dog from the chilly water.
Joe eventually entered the jeep from the back and, with some effort, was able to save not only himself but Thomas as well.
