Air France passenger finds something terrible under his seat
When he discovered a “blood-soaked carpet” beneath his seat and was forced to clean it by himself, a man on an Air France trip from Paris to Toronto had a terrible experience.
A journalist from Lebanon named Habib Battah shared his ordeal on Twitter.
Battah claimed that an hour into the flight, he began to smell something foul but was unable to identify it.
When he stood up to inspect the seats, the entire carpet had a large stain on it. He claimed it was dripping wet.
An attendant shrugged and handed him some wipes when he brought them to the attention of the cabin crew.
The stain turned “blood red” when he wiped it. His under-the-seat backpack was covered with blood as well.
Battah spent a half-hour cleaning while on his hands and knees. He said that the Air France employees provided him with gloves and additional wipes.
They then nonchalantly informed him that a passenger on the flight before theirs had experienced bleeding.
He added that the airline employees gathered around and were astonished since they stated a cleaning crew had taken out the seats after the incident but had not, presumably, cleaned the floor.
“I just kept wondering what happened to this poor passenger that lost this much blood and how did it happen. One @airfrance staff member mentioned internal bleeding and infection. What if it was a disease-would I or any other passengers be exposed?” he said in another tweet.
I’ve seen a few things in my life, but the horrific blood-soaked carpet on my @airfrance plane yesterday was another level! An hour into the transatlantic flight from Paris to Toronto, I kept smelling something gross and couldn’t figure it out. Until I got up and looked down…(1 pic.twitter.com/if919aLlO8

I noticed a big stain across the whole carpet of the seats. It was wet to touch. At first the @airfrance attendant shrugged and gave me some wipes. In my broken French told her it smelled like merde (shit). Then the wipes came up blood red. I used over a dozen of them… (2 pic.twitter.com/tEg5hXX95f

Here I am trying to get the blood off my luggage that it absorbed from the airplane carpet. The @airfrance staff crowded around, shocked because they claimed a cleaning crew had removed the seats after the sick passenger incident, but apparently not cleaned the floor. (4 pic.twitter.com/X59rYkvaAW

“@airfrance not only is this so callous but it is beyond me to understand why a passenger is made to clean up his space on your flight,” commented a user.
“I have to congratulate you. what you did was beyond kind and thoughtful. I think you should get a lawyer too. there are too many big companies ripping off their customers. if someone mentions it, they call you a communist or worse. airlines are supposed to serve their customers,” another person wrote. “This is horrific. Yes, I hope everyone involved is ok. Also, I will never fly Air France again. Never,” said a third.
