Askole, ASkoli, Askole is the last village of Pakistan, as it is the last human settlement on the side of the highest peak of Pakistan K2.

Far away from it, there are high mountains, and especially in winter, snow reigns everywhere. Now let’s see why it is so difficult to reach this last village in Pakistan.

From Skardu, as you move towards Concordia, five of the world’s 14 peaks above 8, 000 meters can be seen only in this part of Pakistan.

Coincidentally, four of the five highest peaks are located on the K2 and Concordia routes.

Meanwhile, if you face K2, you will have “Angel Peak” in front of you, while on the right you will see Broad Peak and a series of Gasherbrum ranges, which is only the series of mountain ranges where you will see climbers from the USA, UK, Germany, Japan, and most of the world.

However, Mount Everest holds the title of the highest peak in the world. With a height of 8848 meters, it is very easy to climb compared to K2.

It can be estimated from here that, on average, more than a hundred climbers summit every year, while K2 is not even a single mountaineer that can summit several times in a year.

K2 has been mentioned, so let us also tell you that nature has blessed Pakistan with beautiful valleys as well as the highest peaks in the world.

K2, which is the second highest peak in the world with a height of 8611 meters, while Nanga Parbat is 8125 meters, G1 8068 meters, Broad Peak 8051 meters, and G2 8035 meters Raka Poshi: 7788 meters Trich Mir, with a height of 7708 meters, is one of the most prominent peaks in Pakistan.

Interestingly, what is noteworthy here is that Pakistan has the honor of having 186 peaks above seven thousand meters in Gilgit-Baltistan alone.

Nanga Parbat, famous as the “killer of mountains that has claimed the lives of many mountaineers, is also a world-famous mountain in the Karakoram ranges, which is as dangerous as it is a source of attraction for mountaineers.

As you move towards these mountain ranges, though the mountain range continues its journey forward, after a while, you will find a village with a limited population at an altitude of 3000 feet.

It bears the identity of the name “Askole,” “Askoli,” or “Askoly,” but its fame is also due to the fact that it is the last village in Pakistan.

The occupation of the people here is carrying the luggage of tourists who are coming from far away along with the porters from all GB regions, and they also have their own land where they cultivate different types of crops, through which their lifestyle goes on average.

The porters carry the equipment of mountaineers and take it to their final destination; it is such a difficult task that is obviously not possible without them, for which climbers from other countries pay them dearly.

The summer season is attractive for the inhabitants of this small heavenly village, consisting of about 100 families.

On the other hand, the four months of severe winter are extremely difficult and painful when snow reigns in the valley and the only road connecting their village is closed, and the contingent faces difficulties in emergency situations.

It is the dire need of the concerned authorities to bear their attention to the development of the area, as it is the piece of heaven on planet Earth. International tourism is because of this area. If well-routed roads, health care facilities, and educational environments are given to this last corner of the world, then there is no doubt that all the public will come from every corner of the world and explore from the starting point of the world to the ending point of the world.

The locals here are more familiar with English than Urdu because the climbers who go to Concordia and Baltoro speak in English, so the local people, as guides or porters, stay with them for several days and learn their language. The livelihood of the inhabitants is related to mountain climbing, and this is the only region of Pakistan that is also known as the “Land of Mountaineers”.
