A Hector’s dolphin stuck to a buoy line was freed during a dolphin watch trip in New Zealand. Akaroa Dolphin showed how they spotted Hector’s dolphin with its tail tied to the buoy line last Friday in a video posted on their Facebook page.

According to Akaroa Dolphins, the event happened in Haylocks Bay, which is a marine reserve where fishing is prohibited. In the video, the boat can be seen stopping near the dolphin and cutting the buoy line from the dolphin’s tail before releasing it into the sea in the footage. With her calf swimming around her, the dolphin was struggling to break free.
