On social media, a video of an emu interrupting its caretaker has gone viral. Taylor Blake, an animal caretaker who works at Knuckle Bump Farms, a hobby farm in the South Florida region of the United States, is shown in the video attempting to create instructive movies but being repeatedly interrupted by an emu named Emmanuel.

In a collection of clips, Emmanuel can be seen entering the picture and hovering near the camera, as Blake reprimands the bird. “Emmanuel, don’t do it,” says Blake.

In one footage, an exasperated Blake yields, and Emmanuel smashes the camera to the ground and pokes it with its beak. Blake responds, “How does that make you feel? Was it everything that you ever wanted and hoped for in life? Do you feel fulfilled now?”.

The collection of Emmanuel’s repeated disruptions, initially posted on Blake’s TikTok account, has now gained over 17.9 million views on Twitter.

Netizens began using the hashtag #EmmanuelDontDoIt to tweet about the emu’s pranks after falling in love with Emmanuel and Blake’s friendship.

A Twitter user shared a close-up of Emmanuel’s face along with the following message:  “I don’t want to alarm you, but I love Emmanuel! Look at that face! #EmmanuelDontDoIt”.

Tony Moss, a lecturer at London South Bank University, also tweeted about the flightless bird’s antics, writing, “My kids ‘pulled an Emmanuel’ every time I was at home trying to pre-record lectures during lockdown. Usually 2 minutes before the end. #AcademicTwitter #EmmanuelDontDoIt”.

Sunday, Blake posted a video of herself and Emmanuel wearing matching hats with the caption, ” “Emmanuel heard about the love he’s getting on Twitter and had to flex on y’all real quick ”.
