A Capuchin monkey from a zoo in California, US, called the police in an odd yet entertaining occurrence. You did read that correctly. A 911 call was received by the department, but it was cut off before it could continue. They made several unsuccessful attempts to phone back and even SMS. The report was identified as coming from Zoo To You in Paso Robles, and some cops were sent right away to the area to investigate. And, surprise, surprise, they discovered that it was actually created by a MONKEY!

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriffs’ Office posted a lengthy article on the rib-tickling event on Facebook. On Saturday, the zoo’s cell phone was lying on the golf cart when the ape called Route scooped it up. The Capuchin monkey then called the police by dialling 911. But when the cops arrived, they realised the truth.

Two images of the infamous monkey were also released by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriffs’ Office.

“In the County, our Deputies have witnessed plenty of “monkey business.” However, nothing compares to this. On Saturday night, we received a disconnected 911 call, which was the beginning of everything. Dispatchers attempted to phone and text back but got no answer. So, deputies were dispatched to look into it. The location led them to the Zoo to You offices close to Paso Robles. The phone call had not been made there. Was it intentional for us to resemble a monkey’s uncle? At that point, everyone decided it had to be Route the Capuchin monkey. Route appeared to have taken the zoo’s cellphone, which was in the golf cart used to navigate the zoo’s 40-acre grounds “reads the post’s caption.

“We’re told Capuchin monkeys are very inquisitive and will grab anything and everything and just start pushing buttons. And that’s what Route did. Just so happened it was the right combination of numbers to call us. As you can tell from these photos, Route is a little embarrassed by the whole thing. But you can’t really blame her, after all. After monkeys see, monkeys do,” the department added further.
