Can we call it scam: Regardless of how many times we tell ourselves not to judge a book by its cover, it never happens. Especially when it comes to the stuff you eat. After all, people feast on food with their eyes before eating it. Restaurants respond by devising novel methods of serving meals. If you’ve ever eaten lentils in a high-end restaurant, you’ve probably seen them served in a little bucket-like dish. As beautiful as it appears, IFS Officer Parveen Kaswan posted a clip on Twitter, inquiring if it was a hoax. Off-camera, someone places a spoon next to the tiny bucket in the video. The contents appear to be nearly half the height of the spoon. When they place the spoon into the bucket, however, the lentil covers somewhat more than a fifth of the spoon.

When IPS Officer Meeraj Khalid stated that this is more about perspective than a scam, social media users chimed in. They couldn’t agree on whether this was a fraud or a business strategy. Some even stated that this is an excellent approach to reduce food waste. A Twitter user responded. No, it’s called Marketing Strategy. (Just like Automobile companies claim a Fuel average of 30 km/liter… but the actual is 18 km/liter… If this is not a scam.. then that Dal bucket is also not… )”

IFS Officer Parveen Kaswan often shares insightful clips and snaps on his social media handles. He recently shared a cartoon on his Twitter that showed a man standing on the top of a structure that looked like a house of cards. The message hinted towards mankind dominating other living species, taking their space to fulfill their desires. The man on top of the structure looked like he was standing above other species. The likes of which included birds, animals, insects, etc. The speech bubble on top of him read, “Why should we care about others getting extinct?”. Meanwhile, the IFS Officer’s caption was as thought-provoking as ever. It read, “In every earlier mass extinction the dominant species got extinct foremost.”

What are your thoughts on these fascinating questions?
