Although a lion is frequently referred to as the “lord of the jungle,” the most recent popular video from a reserve in South Africa shows differently. The heart-pounding video shows an aggressive hippopotamus scaring away a lion who was drinking water from a lake. A wildlife sightings Instagram account, latestkruger, shared the trending video.

The lion is seen drinking water at a lake’s side in the popular footage. It was being observed by a furious hippo that was perched in the middle of the lake. The hippo immediately charged at the lion, startling it. Towards the end of the video, the hippo was running towards the fearsome carnivore while the lion rapidly flew away from the camera.

The footage of a hippo scaring off a lion quickly became popular online. Emoticons for laughing and firing were used by online users. The video amused Instagram users, and they commented on it in a variety of funny ways. Many users posted the funniest comments.
