Who is Santtu Seppälä? All About Sarah Rafferty’s Husband

Sarah Rafferty, known for her role in “Suits,” has been married to her husband Santtu Seppälä for more than 20 years. While she’s close friends with her co-star Gabriel Macht, who played Harvey Specter on the show, she and her husband are private about their personal lives.

They first met at Yale University, where Rafferty was pursuing acting, and Seppälä was studying finance. After Yale, Seppälä went to The Wharton School and worked in investment management for two decades. Currently, he works at the Angeleno Group in Los Angeles.

Seppälä and Rafferty had their first daughter in 2007 and their second in 2012. When filming Suits, the family intentionally divided their time between Toronto and Los Angeles.

The actress explained this choice in a 2013 interview, “What’s really important for us is that our home base is in L.A., and when we move to Toronto — where Suits is filmed — we move as a unit and are always together in the same place. My 5-year-old goes to two schools, which I was worried about, but it ended up being an amazing, self-esteem-building experience for her. She celebrates it.”

In the interview, Rafferty acknowledged that her husband played a crucial role in making their family function well. She mentioned that he deserves credit for their family’s success, “I have an amazing spouse; we’re a team. He works, and I work, and we sort of do this dance with each other so that we can be present to our kids. But I think the whole ‘balance’ thing is an illusion; we just embrace the imbalance.”

Seppälä, who currently resides in the United States with his family, originally comes from Finland. His biography at Angeleno Group mentions that he holds citizenship in both Finland and the U.S. and has lived in Sweden, Denmark, France, and Germany during his life.

Rafferty and Seppälä first met at Yale University while they were students. Rafferty, who would later become a star on the TV show “Suits,” earned her MFA in acting there. They dated for a few years and then got married in June 2001.

During their time at Yale, Seppälä was on the Varsity Tennis Team and achieved success as an Ivy Champion. After Yale, he continued his education and earned an MBA at The Wharton School in Pennsylvania.

Rafferty and Seppälä got married on June 23, 2001, and marked their 20th anniversary in 2021. The actress posted a picture from their 2001 wedding on Instagram with a caption, “Two decades in, still mugging. Happy 20th Anniversary, Santtu. Thank you for the ‘hope, coffee and poetry…..’❤️.”

Seppälä and Rafferty’s first daughter, Oona Gray, was born in 2007. They had another daughter, Iris Friday, in 2012.

From Rafferty’s Instagram posts, it’s evident that their daughters have a wonderful and fanciful life. In 2022, she marked Oona’s birthday by sharing a cute photo of her wearing butterfly wings. Rafferty included a poem by John O’Donohue in the caption and expressed her love at the end, “Boundlessly, unspeakably grateful for you Oona. Happy Birthday. Love, Mamarazzi.”

In January 2023, Rafferty posted more family photos on Instagram to celebrate Iris’ birthday. She mentioned a fan Instagram account that compiled the photos in the caption, “Thanks for making this walk down memory lane @sarahraffertypics. I’ll show it to the bday girl and claim I made it.”

In August 2023, the actress shared a video of a fairy house that she and Iris created together. They made a cute reference to Barbie in the process, she wrote, “Meet us at the mojo dojo fairy house, bring all your magic. Love, Iris and Sarah.”

Seppälä and his wife have very different jobs. The Suits star has been successful in entertainment for many years, while her husband is the Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at the Angeleno Group. Before joining the organization in 2021, he worked in investment management for two decades.

During those 20 years, he was the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Kiitos Capital Management and a Portfolio Manager at Cantillon Capital Management in New York. He started his career as an investment banker at Salomon Brothers.

From Rafferty’s Instagram, it’s evident that she and Seppälä love traveling together. In 2021, she posted a picture of them on a trip to Bhutan in 2005, “Happy Birthday, Santtu. Excited to get back to my very favorite pastime—-world adventuring with you. Let’s go get all up in it again. Thanks for making all my logistically ridiculous ideas into a reality. I’m sorry I’m not home to burn you a cake.”

In June 2023, Rafferty posted another picture of the two of them, this time in Turkey. She wrote a caption for the photo, “#fbf #Istanbul 2004. Happy 22, (one day late) Santtu. I love nothing more than seeing the world with you….and seeing our child troll us on instagram. How did she access photos from the 90’s? 😂🤓🎾🌎🥂 👗via my grandmother’s trunk.”

Even though Rafferty doesn’t talk much about her personal life, she seems to like celebrating Seppälä’s birthday on Instagram. In 2022, she posted a picture of them from the 1990s on his special day and wrote about it, “No idea what’s going on here…it was the 90’s. But Happy Birthday, Santtu. More of this energy ahead and many many many many many more birthdays. ❤️ p.s. I see you @bronwynroberts. p.p.s. I think I still have that shirt.”
