Dann Florek, best known for his iconic role as Captain Donald Cragen in the “Law & Order” franchise, is an esteemed American actor, director, and producer with a net worth of $10 million. Born Ezekial Dann Florek on May 1, 1950, in Flat Rock, Michigan, Florek initially studied physics and mathematics at Eastern Michigan University before pursuing acting in New York City.
Florek’s acting career began with the 1982 TV movie “The Country Girl” and his film debut in “Eddie Macon’s Run” (1983). He gained early recognition with guest roles on TV shows like “Hill Street Blues” and “21 Jump Street.” His career took a significant leap in 1990 when he was cast as Captain Donald Cragen on “Law & Order.” Although written out after a few seasons, Florek returned as Cragen in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” appearing in over 330 episodes from 1999 to 2021.
