Rebecca Grossman, a prominent Los Angeles socialite, was arrested after a drunk driving incident that tragically killed two young brothers, 11-year-old Mark Iskander and 8-year-old Jacob Iskander, while they were crossing a Westlake Village crosswalk with their family.

The investigation revealed that Grossman was allegedly involved in a high-speed race with her reported paramour, former MLB player Scott Erickson, at the time of the fatal crash.

Grossman’s vehicle was recorded traveling at approximately 81 mph during the race, and data retrieved from her car indicated she was moving at about 73 mph when the collision occurred. Eyewitnesses testified during a preliminary hearing that Erickson managed to brake in time to avoid hitting the family, but Grossman could not stop, resulting in the tragic deaths of the Iskander brothers.

Following the crash on September 29, 2020, Grossman was arrested and held on a $2 million bail by Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials. In court, Grossman was visibly tense, clinging to her husband’s arm during the jury selection process.

On June 10, Grossman was sentenced to 15 years to life for the deaths of the two boys. Although prosecutors sought a longer sentence of 34 years to life, the judge decided on a 15-year-to-life term, acknowledging the gravity of the second-degree murder convictions and additional charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run driving.

Grossman expressed remorse during her sentencing, stating she had not seen the boys before the accident and expressing deep sorrow for the family’s pain. Following her conviction, she was transferred to a women’s state prison in Chowchilla, California, marking a stark contrast from her previous affluent lifestyle.
