US actress Esta TerBlanche, best known for her role in “All My Children,” has passed away at the age of 51. Her spokesperson confirmed the news, noting that the cause of her death is still being investigated. The Department of Medical Examiner’s Office is looking into “other significant conditions” that may have contributed.
TerBlanche passed away at her home in North Hollywood on Friday, July 19. Her representative, Annie Spoliansky, shared heartfelt memories of TerBlanche, describing her as a warm, nurturing person who deeply cared for both people and animals. Spoliansky recalled how TerBlanche devoted herself to feeding and caring for squirrels and adored her cats and newly adopted kittens, treating them like her own children.
Reflecting on TerBlanche’s impact, Spoliansky expressed deep sadness and gratitude for their time together. TerBlanche was widely recognized for her role as Gillian Andrassy on “All My Children,” where she appeared in over 100 episodes from 1997 to 2001. She made a memorable return to the show in 2011, portraying her character as a ghost, a role she found deeply moving, as she shared in an interview with Soap Opera Digest shortly before her passing.
Before her fame in the US, TerBlanche started her career in South Africa, hosting the children’s show K-T.V. and winning the Miss Teen South Africa title in 1991. Despite returning to South Africa, she had expressed a strong desire to return to Hollywood and continue her acting career.
