Wes Borland, an American musician, is best known as the dynamic guitarist of the nu-metal band Limp Bizkit. With a net worth of $10 million, Borland has made a name for himself not just through his association with Limp Bizkit but also through his numerous side projects and solo ventures. Here’s a look at his intriguing life and multifaceted career.
Wes Borland was born on February 7, 1975, in Richmond, Virginia. From a young age, he was drawn to music, initially gravitating towards the drums. However, due to the noise, his parents encouraged him to switch to the guitar. Along with his brother Scott, who played bass, Borland nurtured his musical talents. The family eventually moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where Wes attended the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts.
In 1994, Borland joined Limp Bizkit, a band that would soon rise to fame with its unique blend of nu-metal. With Fred Durst on vocals, John Otto on drums, and Sam Rivers on bass, the band quickly gained a following in Jacksonville’s underground scene. Borland’s theatrical stage presence, complete with masks and body paint, set him apart. After a brief departure, he returned to contribute to the band’s debut album, “Three Dollar Bill, Y’all.” The albums “Significant Other” and “Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water” followed, both achieving massive commercial success.
While still with Limp Bizkit, Borland explored other musical avenues. In 1998, he started the experimental project Big Dumb Face with his brother Scott. Known for its quirky lyrics and eclectic sound, the group released several albums over the years. During a break from Limp Bizkit, Borland also formed Black Light Burns, an industrial rock band, releasing multiple albums. His solo work includes the instrumental album “Crystal Machete” (2016) and the more recent “Mutiny on the Starbarge” (2023).
Borland’s talent extends beyond his own projects. He has collaborated with a variety of artists, playing guitar on the Crystal Method’s “Legion of Boom” and bass on From First to Last’s “Heroine.” His contributions span different genres and artists, including work with Combichrist and Korn’s Jonathan Davis. Additionally, Borland has showcased his artistic skills by designing album covers, such as for Fear and the Nervous System.
Wes Borland’s personal life has seen its share of changes. He was married to Heather McMillan from 1998 to 2001, Anna Carlise from 2009 to 2013, and Carré Callaway from 2016 to 2019. In the realm of real estate, Borland has made notable investments. He purchased a home in Los Angeles in 2002 and later sold it for a profit in 2015. That same year, he bought and renovated a home in Detroit’s Arden Park district, a project that was featured on a DIY network show.
