Best known as the co-founder and keyboardist of the legendary 1960s rock band, The Zombies, Argent’s contributions have solidified his place in music history. With a net worth of $8 million, his career spans decades of creativity and influence.

Early Life of Rod Argent

Rod Argent was born on June 14, 1945, in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England. Music was a significant part of his upbringing, thanks to his father, Les Argent, who was both an aeronautical engineer and a former dance band leader. This early exposure to music shaped Rod’s future path. His passion for music deepened during his time at St. Albans School, where he met Paul Atkinson and Hugh Grundy, future members of The Zombies.

Rise of The Zombies

In 1961, Rod Argent co-founded The Zombies, a band that would become a cornerstone of 1960s rock music. Alongside Paul Atkinson, Hugh Grundy, Colin Blunstone, and Chris White, Argent played a pivotal role in creating some of the era’s most iconic hits, including “She’s Not There,” “Tell Her No,” and “Time of the Season.” Argent’s unique keyboard style and songwriting were key to the band’s success. Although The Zombies disbanded in 1967, they reunited in the 2000s, continuing to tour and record, proving their timeless appeal.
