Arrest Warrant Issued Against Sahil Adeem for His Derogatory Remarks on Sindhis
In a case involving using derogatory language against Sindhis, a judge in Karachi issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for notorious public speaker Sahil Adeem.
Waqar Ahmed, the case’s investigating officer, presented a final charge sheet against the social media influencer on Friday during the hearing. The warrants against Adeem were issued by Sher Muhammad, the Judicial Magistrate (South).
Adeem was charged with violating the Pakistan Penal Code’s Sections 153 (inciting hatred between groups), 505(1)(c) (intent to incite), and 500 (punishment for defamation), as well as Section 512 (record of evidence in the absence of the accused) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The judge gave Waqar Ahmed the order to detain Adeem and bring him into court on September 24. The event unfolded as a result of an old video that went viral on social media showing Sahil Adeem disparaging the Sindhi community.
Subsequently, on July 12, the City Court police station received a complaint from Advocate Abdul Fatah accusing Adeem of “hurting the sentiments of the Sindhi community,” leading to the registration of a case against Adeem.
The famous influencer presented himself at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on July 15 and was granted a 15-day protective bail in exchange for the Rs. 20,000 surety bonds.
