In a recent Reddit post, the 29-year-old shared his dilemma regarding his 28-year-old friend who had borrowed his car for a weekend trip a few months prior. “I trusted her, and I thought it would be fine,” he explained. Unfortunately, she ended up totaling the front end of his vehicle.

Although she promised to pay for the repairs, which took weeks, he expressed feeling “pretty uneasy” about lending his car again. Despite this, she recently asked to borrow it for a family event because her car was in the shop. When he declined, citing his discomfort, she became upset and accused him of not trusting her, claiming he was “being dramatic.”

The situation has divided their mutual friends, with some advocating for another chance while others support his cautious stance. Commenters overwhelmingly sided with him, noting, “You don’t trust her, and with good reason,” and pointing out that “your friend is upset because she is dealing with the consequences of her own actions.” Others emphasized that he doesn’t owe anyone an explanation, stating, “You should simply say ‘No, that doesn’t work for me.’”
