A stray dog has gone viral on social media after being spotted on top of the iconic 136-meter-tall Pyramid of Khafre near Cairo, Egypt.

American paraglider Marshall Mosher filmed the dog last week as he flew over the Pyramids of Giza at sunrise, capturing the moment after the dog climbed the country’s second-largest pyramid.

The video has garnered millions of views and made headlines worldwide, showcasing the dog happily playing and jumping around while barking at birds.

The action sports athlete filmed another video the following day when he returned to the same spot to rescue the dog, but to his surprise, the dog was no longer there.

Mosher later shared another footage, apparently captured by another adventurer, showing a similar-looking stray dog safely ascending the pyramid.

It remains unclear whether the two clips feature the same dog. Since then, the Giza Plateau, where the Pyramids are located, has experienced an increase in tourist turnout as people hope to find the dog.

Shortly afterward, news outlets quoted Egyptian government officials stating that the central veterinary administration regularly vaccinates and examines stray dogs in the area to ensure the safety of tourists.

Tourism serves as one of Egypt’s main sources of national income and hard currency. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities revealed in July that the country attracted over seven million tourists between January and June this year.

The over 4,000-year-old Pyramids of Giza rank among the world’s major tourist attractions, with the largest, Khufu, recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Scientists, aerologists, and engineers continue to debate how builders constructed the Pyramids of Giza.
