The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that Lahore and most parts of Punjab will experience mainly cold and foggy weather over the next two days. The current weather pattern across Pakistan is characterized by continental air prevailing over most regions, with a shallow westerly wave expected to impact the upper parts of the country.
In light of these conditions, Lahore and most parts of Punjab are likely to have cold and foggy weather on Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday. Additionally, areas like Pothohar, Murree, Galliyat, and their surroundings may experience partly cloudy or cloudy weather with light rain or drizzle.
For Punjab, dense fog/smog is anticipated in various cities and their surroundings, including Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Mangla, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Hafizabad, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, and nearby areas. Daytime temperatures are expected to be below normal due to dense fog.
Specifically for Lahore, the minimum temperature is projected to range between 05-07 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday. Cold wave and foggy conditions have already persisted in Lahore and most parts of Punjab over the last 24 hours, causing freezing weather in upper districts. Murree recorded the lowest temperature in the province, dropping 01 degree Celsius below freezing. Lahore’s minimum temperature during this period was recorded at 05 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 92 percent in the evening. Dense fog affected travel on major roads, including motorways and the national highway.
