Weather outlook of Lahore, Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that the ongoing cold wave and thick fog/smog will continue in Lahore and the plains of Pakistan for the next two days. According to the current weather pattern, most parts of Pakistan are experiencing continental air.

These conditions will bring mainly cold and foggy weather to Lahore and the plains of Pakistan on Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Thursday. Northern areas of the country are expected to face freezing temperatures.

On Wednesday, Lahore is expected to have a minimum temperature ranging between 04-06 degrees Celsius, and on Thursday, it may drop to 03-05 degrees Celsius.

Fog update for Pakistan

Heavy fog/smog is expected to continue in Islamabad and the plains of Punjab (including cities like Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Mangla, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Hafizabad, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Dera Ghazi Khan), Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh. Over the last 24 hours, Lahore and the plains of Pakistan experienced dense fog/smog and cold waves, while freezing weather affected northern areas of Pakistan and north Balochistan.

Leh, in particular, had the lowest temperature in the country, dropping 12 degrees Celsius below freezing. Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 05 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 70 percent in the evening. Dense fog/smog was prevalent in Islamabad and the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.

Fog update for Motorways

Due to poor visibility, several motorways have been closed, including the ones connecting Peshawar-Swabi, Swabi-Islamabad, Islamabad-Kallar Kahar, Kallar Kahar-Pindi Bhattian, Pindi Bhattian-Lahore, Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Lahore-Abdul Hakim, Sialkot-Lahore, Faisalabad-Multan, Multan-Sukkur, and Mianwali-Dera Ismail Khan.

Fog update for National Highway

Additionally, the poor visibility disrupted traffic on the National Highway and various roads connecting cities. It also had an impact on flight operations and caused changes to the schedules of passenger trains.
