Weather Update: Rains predicted in Pakistan from June 04
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced weather forecasts for rain, dust storms, and thunderstorms expected to hit different parts of the country over the upcoming weekend.
These weather events will impact various regions, including major cities, with higher day temperatures due to increased pressure in the upper atmosphere, especially in the southern half of Pakistan.
As per a spokesperson from PMD, a westerly wave will move into western Pakistan on May 10, reaching the upper regions by the next day. This weather system will last until Friday, leading to day temperatures rising by 3-5°C above normal levels.
The upcoming weather conditions will bring rain, dust storms, and thunderstorms to several areas from May 10 to May 12. Places likely to be affected include Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and other northern areas. In the south, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur, similar weather patterns are expected on May 10-11.
Moreover, isolated hailstorms are forecasted in certain areas during this period, which could pose risks to farming and public safety. Farmers are advised to adjust their crop watering and wheat harvesting plans accordingly to minimize negative impacts.
The public is cautioned to limit exposure to direct sunlight and stay alert for windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning, which could disrupt daily activities and cause damage to infrastructure and personal property like electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels.
The PMD spokesperson stressed the importance of staying updated with weather information and following precautionary measures to ensure safety and reduce potential damages from the expected weather events.
