Persistent heavy rain that began hammering Qiubei County in southwest China’s Yunnan Province on Thursday has claimed four lives and left four people missing as of 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to the county govt.
More than 120,000 people in 12 townships have been impacted, with communications and electricity facilities seriously destroyed and 27,000 houses without power.
More than 600 individuals have been displaced as a result of the recent rains. More than 12,000 hectares of crops were ruined, and more than 130 roads and minor bridges were destroyed.
Personnel from the electricity, communications, transportation, and fire departments have been rushed to the impacted regions to assist with rescue and relief operations, while efforts to find the missing persons are ongoing.
