Indian couple begs to get their son’s body

In India, a video of a Indian couple asking for money to remove their son’s body from a hospital has sparked outrage.

A video filmed in the northern city of Samastipur in Bihar shows an elderly man and woman walking from door to door for help. The couple said they had to beg after hospital staff demanded a large bribe to retrieve their dead son’s body.

The hospital said it would take action against staff. The couple’s pessimism reflects the plight of thousands of poor Indian families and Indian couple who have been persecuted in hospitals and often have to pay bribes to do their job. Mahesh Thakur and his wife told ANI that their son disappeared a few days ago.
