
Iran removes nuclear-monitoring cameras
- Iran has turned off a number of cameras installed by the global nuclear watchdog.
- Western powers said Tehran wasn’t cooperating with the IAEA.
- The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said more than 80 percent of existing cameras are still in place and operational.
After Western nations said Tehran was not complying with the IAEA; Iran turned off some of the cameras at a nuclear site. After Western powers introduced a resolution to reprimand Iran; it turned off a number of cameras set by the world nuclear watchdog.

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) reported that it had shut off the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Online Enrichment Monitor (OLEM); and flowmeter equipment at an undisclosed nuclear plant. According to the AEOI, all of the destroyed monitoring systems were installed voluntarily; and outside the scope of the IAEA’s safeguards agreement. According to the AEOI statement; more than 80% of existing IAEA cameras are covered by the safeguards agreement and will stay active.
