Paul Scully, the business minister, has written to Sadiq Khan, the London mayor, requesting that the capital’s ultra-low emission zone levy be waived during the strike days so that those obliged to drive lose out.

For automobiles that do not satisfy the statutory emission requirements, the usual daily charge is £12.50. It applies within the north and south circulars of London, but not on them.

All non-essential roadworks should also be halted, according to Mr. Scully.

Despite continued talks between Network Rail and the RMT union, it is now evident that the disruption will take place at least tomorrow.

“Even if there was a breakthrough this afternoon,” Network Rail’s head of media relations Kevin Groves told, “the timeline has been set in stone already.”

He claimed that we have passed “the point of no return” in terms of what passengers can anticipate from the railway in terms of services for tomorrow.

As a result, Mr. Groves advises travelers to “only use the railway if absolutely necessary.”
