‘Russian aggression,’ not sanctions, is fueling the grain issue

Ukraine’s foreign minister has said that Russia’s invasion is to blame for a worldwide grain crisis; dismissing Moscow’s allegations that Western sanctions on the country are to blame for rising food prices. “The president and I have been actively communicating about the underlying source of this crisis: Russian aggression, not sanctions,” Dmytro Kuleba stated at a news conference with Ukrainian journalists.

Russia has taken control of huge swaths of Ukraine’s coast, and its warships now patrol the Black and Azov Seas, obstructing agriculture shipments and driving up grain prices.
Ukraine and the West accuse Russia of using food supply as a weapon. Russia blames the incident on Ukrainian mines sunk at sea and Western sanctions placed on Moscow.
