Police discovered a father and kid on a blue cooler Wednesday night, clinging to it as they were pulled from the Boston Harbor. According to a news release, the Boston Police Harbor Unit got a call on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. regarding “a boat taking in water and sinking off the coast of Graves Light in Boston Harbor.”

Officers arrived to find a boat nearly submerged in water and two individuals clinging to a dangling blue cooler.

The moment the officers located the two men is captured on video from the rescue that was obtained by NBC News.

The son is heard saying to the officers, “Help him up first.”

The police boat was then boarded by a man who was carrying a life jacket and claimed to be 76 years old.

I can hear the man exclaim, “I’ve got no strength.” The 38-year-old son, who is also having trouble getting onto the boat, is next the focus of the police’ attention. The father and son pair can be heard thanking the cops after confirming that they were the only two people on their boat when it sank.

Police say that once the men were saved, they explained that they had abandoned ship because their boat’s engine became entangled in lobster lines and started to sink.

The men were taken to the shore, where an EMS crew attended to them. According to investigators, their boat was also lifted and brought to Thompson’s Island.
