The Michigan State Police detained three people and seized approximately $1 million worth of cocaine, following a recent traffic stop.
On July 27, troopers stopped a car for a traffic offence. MSP says that the driver let the car be searched after officers noticed that the people inside were acting strangely.
However, the driver fled before a search could be performed. There was also a mother and two young children in the car.
The vehicle would later crash, but when troopers arrived, there was no one inside. Troopers found 22 pounds of cocaine in the vehicle.
MSP reports that the estimated street value of the discovered cocaine is $985,000.
Troopers say that Daquane Wilson, who is 27 years old, was found in an outbuilding with a child.
Another suspect, Jadzia Cobeo, 22, of New York, was discovered with a child near a marsh.
MSP stated that police also arrested 50-year-old Nedra Thompson.
Each of the three suspects is a New York resident.
Wilson and Cobeo were charged with evading authorities, resisting and obstructing, possessing over one kilogramme of cocaine with the intent to distribute, and fourth-degree child abuse.
Thompson was accused of possession with intent to deliver and forgery.
The maximum term for each of the three suspects is life in prison, and they might be fined up to $1 million.
