Six killed in Armenian warehouse blast
The Armenian Ministry of Emergencies reported on Monday that rescue workers had discovered six bodies from the site of an explosion that occurred at a fireworks warehouse in Yerevan, the country’s capital city. However, more than a dozen others are still missing.
On Sunday, explosions swept through a warehouse in a market in Yerevan that was holding pyrotechnics. As a result of the explosions, portions of the structure collapsed, and dozens of people were injured.
A video that was published by the ministry that deals with crises showed a smoking heap of rubble and twisted metal. According to the ministry’s statement, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a visit to the location along with other authorities.
It is not known what caused the explosion; however, the authorities have determined that terrorism was not the cause.
“Looking at the footage of the moment of the blast, it becomes obvious that there can be no talk of a terrorist act, because first there is some fire, smoke rises, and then an explosion,” Armenpress news agency quoted emergencies minister Armen Pambukhchyan as saying.
