David Beckham ‘turned down chance’ to skip line to visit Queen’s coffin
According to reports, David Beckham declined the opportunity to skip the line in order to visit the Queen’s casket and chose to wait 13 hours in it instead.
The late Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away last week at the age of 96, was mourned by thousands of people who went for kilometers to Westminster Hall on Tuesday. The former professional footballer was one of them.
It was discovered that MPs and members of the House of Lords have the choice to skip the line and are allowed to bring four visitors with them.
Beckham, 47, reportedly declined an invitation from an MP to join the fast track line after presenter Dan Walker supported him in relation to reports that he went to the Queen’s casket for “exposure.”
He wanted to “be like everyone else,” according to a source, because his grandpa, a royalist, would have taken just as long to honour the Queen.
David could have skipped all the lines, but he preferred to blend in with the crowd. He claimed that neither he nor his grandfather would have jumped the line, according to the Daily Mail.
David was raised in an East End household that was a staunch supporter of the monarchy; these people would stand to attention when the national anthem played. Like every other member of the public, he desired to visit the Queen.
Beckham discussed sharing food like Pringles, sherbert lemons, and doughnuts with the folks he was waiting with while speaking to BBC News while in line.
