Liz Truss, the prime minister, apologized for her “mistakes” and promised to lead the Conservatives in the upcoming general election.

After a dismal first six weeks in Number 10, the PM has been under increasing pressure.

After a day in which her economic objectives were almost entirely destroyed and her authority was left in ruins, she conceded to MPs that she had made a number of blunders.

After the government’s fiscal policies alarmed the markets, she declared in a BBC interview that she had “changed what we’re doing” and appointed a new Chancellor with a new plan to “establish economic stability.”

She asserted: “I do believe that an honest politician is one who is willing to admit when they have made a mistake.”

Ms. Truss said she wanted to “accept responsibility and say sorry for the mistakes that have been made” after Jeremy Hunt pared back the energy support package and abandoned “virtually all” of the tax savings offered by his predecessor.

She told the BBC: “I wanted to move… to deal with the issue of high taxes by helping people with their energy costs, but we went too far and too soon. I’ve admitted that,”

She added: “I will lead the Conservatives into the next general election.” She claimed that the reason she is “sticking around” is because she was “elected to deliver for our country.”

On Monday evening, the pressure on the Prime Minister increased as five Conservatives publicly demanded her resignation after only six weeks in office.

The PM is fighting an uphill battle to survive after new Chancellor Jeremy Hunt dismantled her signature economic measures in order to promote market “stability.”

Only three days after being appointed to No. 11 to replace Ms. Truss’s ousted ally Kwasi Kwarteng, he appeared to assume control of the government’s agenda.

Additionally, sources claim that Truss skipped Sir Keir Starmer’s urgent question earlier today because she was purportedly in a meeting with Sir Graham Brady.

It was verified that she was delayed during a “secret” and “pre-planned” conversation with the 1922 Committee chairman this afternoon.

She has since apologized in a private meeting to a number of One Nation-affiliated Tory MPs.

She acknowledged that “we attempted to do too much, too quickly,” according to her press secretary, who also said that “the Prime Minister expressed she was sorry for some of the mistakes that have been made over the last several weeks.”

She emphasized the necessity to speed up the energy package’s passage and implement the change to National Insurance contributions, he continued.

According to her press secretary, Ms. Truss also denounced newspaper accusations made against a few of her parliamentary counterparts.

She also “confirmed her presence” at Cop27 and “made it clear that she does not control the King’s travel plans.”

According to her press secretary, Liz Truss didn’t believe her time was up at any point on Monday.

He claimed that she was generally “committed” to carrying out the Growth Plan and doing “what’s best for the country.”
