Elle Edwards died in Wallasey pub attack
Elle Edwards has been identified as the lady who was killed on Christmas Eve in a shooting that took place in a pub in Merseyside.
When the beautician, who was 26 years old at the time of the incident, was shot in the head, she and her sister and some friends were at The Lighthouse in Wallasey.
Ms. Edwards is not believed to have been the original target, according to Merseyside Police, who stated that there were also four men wounded, one of whom was critically injured.
Officers are continuing their search for the gunman, who is thought to have gone in a dark-colored automobile that may have been a Mercedes.
The victim, Ms. Edwards, and her family had already left flowers at the location of the shooting.
Before the shooting started, one of Ms. Edwards’ friends named Jess told Media that many initially thought they had heard fireworks when the shooting began. Jess was speaking outside The Lighthouse.
“But automatically everything just stopped and we had a feeling that something wasn’t right,” she said.
She said she felt “numb” when she saw her friend on the floor, with people trying to help her, and paid tribute to the “funny” beautician.
“There was never a time when we’ve been out that we’ve not had a ball,” Jess added.
In an Instagram post, Ms. Edwards’ colleagues at Nova Hair and Beauty Studio in Moreton, Wirral, said they were “absolutely lost for words”.
They wrote: “Heaven gained the most beautiful angel, we are all heartbroken, thinking of your family right now Elle.
“Thank you for all the laughs and happiness you brought into our lives, rest in paradise angel, love from all your team.”
Towards around 23:50 GMT on Saturday, shots were fired at the pub’s entrance, which was crowded with mostly young people.
Merseyside Police reported that Ms. Edwards was transported to Arrowe Park Hospital where she was later confirmed deceased.
A 28-year-old guy from Beechwood, Wirral, who was also hurt is still in critical condition at the hospital.
Three further guys, 22, 24, and 33 years old, were shot, but it is not believed that their injuries are life-threatening.
Det Supt Sue Coombs, of Merseyside Police, said: “No family should have to be faced with this ordeal at any time but at Christmas, which should be a time of peace and celebration, it makes it so much harder to bear.”
She described the shooting as “callous and cold blooded” and vowed: “We will not rest until we find the people responsible.
“Our investigation will rely heavily on information we receive from the public and I urge members of the local community, who have any information which could help us, to get in touch.”
The shooting comes after other prominent shootings on Merseyside in recent months, including the shooting murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel in August after a shooter broke into her home in Liverpool while chasing down a guy.
She passed away a day after Ashley Dale, a council employee who was fatally murdered in her backyard. It was thought that the 28-year-old was not the attack’s primary victim.
Their demises came a few days after Sam Rimmer, 22, lost his life after being shot together with his companions by individuals riding electric motorcycles.
Following the shootings, the government allocated £350,000 to launch a trial program in Merseyside to reduce knife and gun violence.
Ahead of Christmas morning services, Jeffrey Hughes, minister of the United Reformed Church in Wallasey Village, said: “We’ve got a lot of young people, families in that area.
“When we first heard the news this morning that there’d been a shooting in Wallasey, Wallasey Village is the last place you would think of.”
