Northern California earthquake injures 2, said authorities
A magnitude 6.4 earthquake that struck Northern California early on Tuesday morning caused at least two people to sustain injuries, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, Samantha Karges, who talked to Media, the office is continuing to collect information from local dispatch centers.
Following the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Humboldt County, the California Governor’s office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) has provided an update in which they state that the damage assessment work is still ongoing.
“Cal OES is coordinating with local and tribal governments to assess the impacts of the Earthquake and supporting with resources, mutual aid and damage assessment. State Agency response including Cal OES, Cal Fire, Cal Trans, Cal CGS, CHP in support of local efforts,” it said.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the ocean not far from the coast, approximately 12.1 kilometers from Ferndale in Humboldt County.
This location is approximately 20 miles to the southwest of Eureka and approximately 280 miles to the northwest of Sacramento.
