On Thursday, an Ontario judge granted conditional release to one of eight young girls accused of murdering a 59-year-old man in downtown Toronto, Canada, this month.

Among other terms, the teen, whose name cannot be disclosed, must forfeit her passport, not own a cell phone, remain in Ontario, and not leave her home unattended or access the Internet outside of school hours. Her bond was set at $9,500 with two sureties ($7,005.90).

The judge, Maria Sirivar, will explain her bail decision on January 10.

The remaining seven juveniles charged in the swarming death appeared briefly via video in court on Thursday morning before being remanded to custody. On January 5, they are expected to appear for bail hearings.

The females are charged with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of a 59-year-old man shortly after midnight on December 18 in Toronto. The man’s identity has not been disclosed, but police say he had recently entered the city’s shelter system.

According to police, three of the females are 13 years old, three are 14 years old, and two are 16 years old. Due to their age, we cannot reveal their names.
