Tehran: Drones strike an Iranian military facility
Tehran said on Sunday that drones struck a military facility in Isfahan, the country’s capital.
According to Mohammad Reza Jan-Nesari, the deputy head of security for the Isfahan Governorate, an explosion has taken place in one of the military facilities connected to the Ministry of Defense.
The explosion, according to Jan-Nesari, “but happily there were no victims,” left minor damage.
Later, the state news agency IRNA claimed that “small drones” were to blame for the incident.
According to IRNA, who cited the nation’s military ministry, “There was an unsuccessful attempt by tiny drones against a defense ministry industrial complex and thankfully with predictions and air defense arrangements already in place, one of them (hit).”
Two more drones were eliminated by the complex’s air defense system. Fortunately, no one was killed in this failed attack, but the complex’s roof did receive some minor damage.
According to the ministry, the attack happened about 10:30 p.m. local time.
About 440 kilometers (270 miles) south of Tehran is where the plant is.
