Man, 15-year-old arrested in shooting at Georgia gas station

Two persons have been detained in connection with the shooting that left nine children injured earlier this month at a petrol station in Columbus, Georgia.

According to a press release from the Columbus Police Department, the suspects were identified as D’Angelo Robinson, Sr., 35, and an anonymous 15-year-old male, who were both detained on suspicion of aggravated assault.

A fight between a group of young people at a party on February 17 spilled out onto the parking lot of a Shell gas station nearby, where nine children, all under the age of 18, were hurt, including a 5-year-old boy who was shot while there with a family member, according to Columbus police.

Investigators spoke with witnesses and gathered data in the week that followed the shooting, and they “were ultimately able to establish probable cause to obtain arrest warrants for the two suspects,” according to police.

The adolescent suspect, who was characterized as “a validated gang member,” was charged with one count of aggravated assault, the department said, adding that additional charges are pending.

Robinson was charged with eight counts of aggravated assault.

Robinson may or may not have participated in the initial confrontation that the police claim began at the party.

Furthermore unknown is what precipitated the event or how the gunfire came to be.

According to the department, the injured kids received treatment for non-life-threatening wounds. Authorities earlier stated that the 5-year-old child was the youngest victim and that the oldest victim was 17 years old.
