Saudi celebrating founding day 2023: 4-day holiday celebration
Saudi Arabia is celebrating its second Foundation Day with a four-day weekend and activities around the kingdom.
Last year, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, issued a royal edict making Foundation Day a national holiday in Saudi Arabia.
In the kingdom, Foundation Day is observed to remember the country’s founding in 1727 by Imam Mohammed Bin Saud, as well as the country’s strong historical origins.
The Kingdom celebrates February 22 as its Foundation Day, which corresponds to Shaban 2, 1444 Hijri.
Employees in the public sector will have two days off this year, with both Wednesday, February 22, and Thursday, February 23 designated as holidays. Because the next Friday and Saturday are the Kingdom’s official weekends, laborers will have a four-day weekend.
Private sector workers get a public holiday on February 22, and it is up to individual organizations whether they extend the break to Thursday, February 23, to coincide with public sector workers.
Numerous cultural, artistic, and popular events will be held in the Kingdom’s cities, exhibiting creativity, love, and loyalty while reflecting the richness of the country’s history.
These events will depict the state’s diverse situations in good and bad times, when it managed to withstand adversity while preserving its indigenous Arab identity during the first and second Saudi states until the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
