Vice-President of German Parliament arrives in Kyiv
On Twitter, Katrin Goering-Eckardt announced the arrival in Kyiv of the vice-president of the Bundestag, the German parliament.
“Kyiv. I arrived here today by night train,” Katrin Goering-Eckardt said. “Ukrainians are defending their country & our common freedom. I admire their courage. In the next few days, I would like to get a picture of the reconstruction, the humanitarian situation and the difficult everyday life on the ground.”
Goering-visit Eckardt’s follows Germany’s announcement last week that it will send a significant number of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine in a show of solidarity for Kyiv.
Following weeks of tremendous pressure on Berlin from some of its NATO partners, the declaration was a historic event.
Goering-Eckardt endorsed the choice in a tweet she posted on January 24: The “Leopard” is now free!
However, there were differing reactions on the streets of Germany, with some residents telling Media that they were worried about how the war would now intensify.
