
Chinese ambassador calls on caretaker minister for energy
The Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, met with the Caretaker Federal Minister for Energy, Muhammad Ali, on Tuesday.
During their meeting, the Minister expressed his appreciation for China’s consistent involvement in Pakistan’s energy sector, as stated in a press release.
The Minister also extended his congratulations for the successful 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in China earlier this month.
Ambassador Jiang noted that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has emerged as a guiding force for international development, providing opportunities for collaboration between industries from both countries.
Furthermore, the Ambassador welcomed the Energy Minister’s proposal to arrange a delegation of private companies to engage with Chinese enterprises, fostering cooperation between the two nations.
The Minister highlighted that Pakistan’s future energy landscape will revolve around native and renewable sources.
He identified renewables, transmission networks, and distribution companies (DISCOs) as key areas for potential collaboration between China and Pakistan.
Additionally, he emphasized the potential for utilizing advanced technology from Chinese corporations to enhance the Coal Gasification plant in Thar, ultimately bolstering energy supply to industries.
