Trump said that Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial shipping.

U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States carried out heavy strikes on Iran in response to its latest attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking to CNN by phone during an interview that mainly focused on the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Trump said the United States had “hit them very hard” the previous night.

Trump also claimed Iran had agreed to major concessions but then launched a drone attack on a ship just two hours later.

“They were giving up everything, and then all of a sudden two hours after that they hit a ship with a drone. These people, there is something wrong with them,” Trump said.

He added that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial shipping, although the United States and Iran continue to exchange attacks, raising concerns about safety along one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.
