Richard Gere’s wife says he is “recovering” from pneumonia

• The 73-year-old actor contracted pneumonia while on vacation in Mexico celebrating the 40th birthday.

In recovery is Richard Gere. The 73-year-old actor contracted pneumonia while on vacation in Mexico celebrating the 40th birthday of his wife Alejandra Silva.

Silva, 40, thanked her followers for their support during the Maybe I Do star’s illness in an Instagram post on Sunday morning that included a picture of herself and her husband strolling hand in hand with one of their sons.

He is healing; he feels much better today, according to the news and your nice and [worried] messages that I noticed when I woke up this morning. Silva discussed Gere.

The worst is over already, she declared. “We really appreciate all of your kind remarks, so thank you! I’m grateful.”

Silva’s most recent post follows one she published earlier in the week showing herself on a picturesque beach with her 4-year-old son Alexander as their younger sibling, who the publicist and actor Gere welcomed in April 2020, rushed ahead of them.

“I appreciate all the birthday greetings. After over 3 weeks of sickness in our family, I am finally feeling much better today!” Silva added a caption. “I sincerely appreciate your devotion, and I return it all to you. #happy40th #happybirthday.”

Gere is the father of 22-year-old son Homer, whom he shares with his ex-wife Carey Lowell, in addition to the two boys they had together, while Silva is the mother of 9-year-old son Albert from a prior union.

When they started dating in 2014, Gere and Silva had known one other for more than ten years.

They got married “weeks and weeks ago,” a source close to the couple said in April 2018, and they were “extraordinarily happy.” The source said, “They’re very comfortable with each other, have fun together, and are looking forward to their future together.”

A Hollywood source who has known Gere for years told news that he “has been lot happy in this portion of his life since he is established, confident, and doing what he wants” after the couple’s marriage was announced.
